GETTING STARTED
When you make the change from unhealthy eating habits to a smart, healthy and sustainable approach to nutrition, you'll feel, look, and think better than you ever have before.
It's advice you hear from your doctor, your dietician—and your mom—all the time. But what exactly does eating right mean? Here is our perspective and how we Coach our clients.

1. FOLLOWING A WINNING RECIPE!
Since 1993 Fog Island has been mentoring culinary students and coaching clients how “Eating” has a purpose...is all about getting the nutrients you need without the calories you don't.

2. PLAN YOUR MEALS
If you were to go on a family vacation, do you engage in planning your actions so to maximize the results and happiness? Sure, you do...and we can do that with the food we eat also!
Thoughtfully plan what you're going to eat ahead of time. When you do this the night before, or even a whole week in advance, you take the guesswork out of it. That means you won't wait until you're hungry and then haphazardly look for something to eat (which often leads to unhealthy choices).

3. TRACK OF YOUR FOOD.
Pay particular attention to the quantity, quality and timing of your meals. Answering the question, 'Did I eat the right portions and at the right time, in this meal?' By regularly answering Yes or No, you'll develop a precise and automatic thought process which will gently course-correct.

4. JOURNAL HOW YOU FEEL AFTER EACH MEAL
If you eat too much, you might feel guilty, heavy, and too full. When you eat correctly, you'll feel healthy, satisfied, and good. By regularly checking in with your feelings after a meal, you'll develop a very keen awareness over time about the connection between your emotions, mindset and how you're eating. This in turn helps you internalize and own what you're learning so that you develop a real sense of nutritional wisdom. All that leads to better and sustainable results, which is one of the primary goals of Fog Islands Health!

Learning is when feelings become associated with a past event.
